Alvi's Drift Signature Merlot (13%)

The Merlot grapes come from vineyards further away from the river. Here, the subsoil consists of shale, which ensures excellent drainage. The bunches of Merlot grapes are picked by hand, so that only healthy, ripe grapes are delivered to the wine cellar. The grapes are destemmed and then undergo a 7-day fermentation in Roto tanks for optimal extraction of colour and flavour. The young wine is then aged for 8 months in French oak barrels. The result is a ripe style merlot with a good structure. This juicy wine smells deliciously of cherries, plums and tobacco. In the taste, besides the ripe fruit tones, there are also notes of chocolate. Delicious in combination with duck or pasta dishes.
