Appleton Estate has been producing rum since at least 1749, making it the oldest distillery in Jamaica to distil without interruption since its inception. Master Blender at Appleton since 1997 is Joy Spence, remarkably the first woman ever to hold the position.
Located in the Nassau Valley, Appleton Estate produces sugar in addition to rum. The sugar cane is grown on an area of 45 km² and processed in its own refinery. For the rum production, the house's own molasses is used, which is fermented for more than 36 hours using our own grown yeasts. Distillation takes place in both pot and column stills.
