This Craigellachie 2010 is finished in Guyana rum casks. Freshly roasted coffee beans open the nose after which hazelnut combines beautifully with ripe tropical fruit.
This Glenburgie 2011 is a delicious whisky, of course mainly due to the maturation in PX Sherry casks. The dark color betrays everything, which confirms the nose. Decadent sweetness followed by roasted (pecan) nuts, topped with cane sugar syrup.
Barrels from the Pulteney Distillery are rare to come across. This 2011 Pulteney comes from first-fill bourbon barrels, which has given this whisky a sweet vanilla undertone.
A limited edition Islay single malt whisky from Morrison Scotch Whisky Distillers. This release is the first in the Mac-Talla range to be fully matured in virgin oak casks.
Once a year MacTalla bottles something special. Aged entirely in 1st.and 2nd fill sherry casks. Finish: first sweet, then spicy, and in the long finish more and more peat smoke and sea salt. A perfect pick-me-up.
