Casado (Portuguese for marriage) is a limited edition bottling from Kilchoman that has been aged for six years in “fresh” bourbon casks (from 2014). Then 38 barrels of whiskey were selected and "married" in two 6,000 liter Portuguese red wine barrels.
Nose
Starts with intense campfire smoke balanced with ripe & summery stone fruit; peach, plum and cherry. Deep hints of marzipan linger in combination with beautifully layered maritime scents.
Taste
Pepper and herbs on the first taste. Dry, salty peat smoke is on the palate, but fruit notes of apricot and lemon find their way through.
Aftertaste
A long finish that has a warm, spicy character. Stewed, cooked fruit notes provide a sweet-jam profile provide a lingering sweetness that balances the classic Kilchoman smoke beautifully.
