Shizuoka Pot Still “K” 100% Scottish Barley First Edition (55,5%)

This Shizuoka Pot Still "K" comes exclusively from the Karuizawa kettle and is distilled entirely from Scottish grain. 45% of this was peated and 55% unpeated. This produced a lightly-smoked whisky, matured in a combination of ex-bourbon barrels, ex-bourbon quarter casks, as well as ex-sherry hogsheads.

The old Karuizawa kettle, with its unusually long and narrow lyne arm, makes for a light and beautifully floral distillate. That fact, combined with the 2 Scottish varieties of barley gives a rich sweetness with fresh rose petals, white fruit and rich vanilla followed by many more spices like speculoos, light white pepper and aniseed, which then turns into balanced peat smoke. The finish is elegant and heart warming without being heavy. A perfect combination of Japan and Scotland.
