Takamaka Rum Zenn (40%)

Takamaka Rum Zenn is an unaged rum from the Seychelles Series. It is made from a blend of pot and column distillates, with its character shaped not by conventional cask maturation but by contact with oak from ex-bourbon casks. The result is a rum with more roundness, gentle oak influence, and notes associated with vanilla, brown sugar, pepper and cinnamon.

The producer presents Rum Zenn as a pressed rum. In this process, the rum goes through hydrodynamic cavitation and is then rested in large stainless steel tanks. According to Takamaka, this method is used to build flavour and soften the rum without relying on traditional ageing or flavour additives.

In the glass, it shows a golden colour, with a fruity nose and notes of sugar, pepper and cinnamon. The palate brings honey, vanilla, fruit and cinnamon, followed by a long finish. That profile makes it particularly suitable for classic punches and cocktails that benefit from the freshness of an unaged rum with a little more texture and depth.
